In English we will learn to...

At Little Weighton Rowley CE Primary School, our English curriculum supports children to develop the necessary language and literacy skills to enable them to fully participate in society. We want our children to be able to communicate effectively and confidently, now and in the future, by listening, speaking, reading and writing fluently.
Our English curriculum will enable children to:
- be confident when reading, demonstrating fluency and good understanding
- enjoy reading widely and often for pleasure and information, appreciating different types of fiction, non-fiction and poetry
- acquire a wide and varied vocabulary that they use and apply across all areas of learning
- demonstrate an understanding of grammar and punctuation conventions both when speaking and writing
- write clearly, accurately and coherently in a range of different contexts and for different purposes and audience
